WHAT THE HECK IS DUET? Duet is a writing, movement and collaboration workshop that invites friends to cocreate a unique movement-and-writing-based piece in a non-judgmental, hyper-encouraging, giggles-positive environment.

WHO IS IT FOR? Duet is for you if you like trying weird and fun things with your pal, and you enjoy taking creative risks. Together, you will move through a series of guided, gentle prompts and exercises to help you create a “duet” representing a cherished aspect of your friendship.

I DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WRITING OR DANCING. CAN I STILL DO THIS? Yes! Duet is designed for people who have never written creatively or explored creative movement. You don’t have to be a poet, an athlete or a ballerina. Duet also serves as a gentle shakeup for artists looking to disrupt their usual way of working, challenge their limits or explore untapped avenues for creativity.

WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE TELLING US WHAT TO DO? Duet is hosted and facilitated by Alison Daley and Daccia Bloomfield.

Daccia Bloomfield runs Rigmarole Writing Workshops, a workshop and coaching series in Toronto, Canada. She is a published author, a lyricist for a band and a lapsed painter. Daccia holds a diploma in Counseling and Advocacy (A.W.C.C.A.) from George Brown College. Her facilitation style is trauma-informed and arts-based, and she deeply believes in art’s potential to enrich friendships. She can’t wait to witness what unfolds in this exciting workshop.

Alison Daley is a movement facilitator, arts educator and choreographer in Toronto. She is passionate about facilitating artistic experiences that help folks feel comfortable exploring who they are and building connections with others. She loves to build warm, non-judgmental and lively group atmospheres. Alison holds a BFA in dance from Concordia, an MFA in choreography from York, and a B.Ed. from Queen’s with a specialist in Arts and Community Education. She can’t wait for this opportunity to engage with the Rigmarole community through this workshop.

In addition to their shared love for encouraging and facilitating creativity, Alison and Daccia are former roomies, longtime creative collaborators, and close friends.
