I’m a writer.
I love to work with artists and artist-run organizations, so I’ve done a lot of that. I’ve also worked with not-for-profits, corporations and small businesses of many different varieties.
You can find my writing in remote, dimly lit corners of the internet or out there showing off and yucking it up in songs, video games and experimental dance pieces. I super love to make stuff that connects people and helps them learn - stuff like sexual health awareness and outreach materials, cards to help therapists work with anger, and employee manuals that recognize and respect gender diversity and disability.
On this page, I’ve listed just a few of the writing projects I’ve been privileged to be part of over the past decade.
DORA BOREALIS
My first book, DORA BOREALIS, was released with ECW press in 2008. You can read about it here.
“Tells a memorable story about giving up (or not) on the fierce, arbitrary dreams of childhood.
It`s enlivened by Bloomfield`s manic originality...a good read.”
—This Magazine
“The Toronto of Findley and Davies is long gone.
I've been waiting my entire life for a book to reflect the Toronto that I know and love. This is that book.”
—Christian Lander, Author
“[...] too weird and original to lose your attention, no matter how small the span.”
—The Sacramento Book Review

TIDAL MOUTH
TIDAL MOUTH is my heart project with Zinnia/Rachael Cardiello. I write the words, she writes the music. This video features Rachael, Chris Pruden on piano, and the wonderful voices of The Wind and The Water. You can find out about TIDAL MOUTH shows here, or follow our Instagram.
“An awe-inspiring ode to loss and grief, “Baby” begins with hand-clapping rhythms, evocative of schoolyard games, while slowly building into boiling rage and sadness. Rachael Cardiello’s soaring vocals lead the charge, and she is slowly joined by a chorus of grieving and orphaned singers, all part of the “Dead Dads Club” (the title of their debut EP). For fans of Mountain Man, and anyone who has lost a loved one.”
